How Can an Urgent Care Help You?

An urgent care is a type of medical facility in which individuals can visit to get medical service right away. It is best for those situations when you should go to see your family doctor but when you do not want to wait for an appointment. These facilities are not meant for emergency situations. For those, visit a local hospital with an emergency department. However, for many people, these neighborhood facilities are perfectly suited for helping you with your medical needs. If you have one, and have yet to use it, now is the perfect time to find out how it can help.
The Services You Didn't Know About
Most people know that the urgent care can provide medical needs in a situation that requires some medical attention but not emergency needs. If you visit this location for things like a cold or flu, then you may be using it for the most common services it provides. However, most facilities offer more service than just this. If you want to improve your ability to get the services you need without having to spend hours waiting for an appointment at your family doctor, turn to these professions.
The following are some additional services these facilities often offer. Take a look at how many of these services you can save time getting from this facility.
• Did you know these facilities often handle x-rays and can help with medical lab testing? These services are often done at hospitals or at specially designed facilities. However, if you do not want to pay the high fees and you want to reduce the time you have to wait to get it done, turn to the urgent care provider instead.
• Did you know that you can get sports physicals as well as work permit physicals taken care of at these facilities? Rather than waiting weeks for your doctor to have an opening for this service, turn to these facilities to get it done without an appointment.
• You can visit these facilities for STD testing or other privacy testing that you do not want to do through your regular doctor. If you want privacy even from your family doctor, this is a great way to get it.
Urgent care services can help you to get your medical needs met in a more convenient way. Most have weekend and late evening hours, too. They can handle most types of needs. If they cannot handle it, they will refer you to the proper location in your area to get the help you require. It may not be easier to get the medical care you need than using these services.

How To Buy The Best Products for Good Health

A number of household products are manufactured by companies, but instead of doing good, they pose a number of serious health risks. It is not only what is inside the bottle or tub that is dangerous, sometimes the bottle is as dangerous as what is inside it. Start paying attention to what you are using in your home and you could be surprised at what you find out. Many chemicals interfere with your body on a hormonal level and can cause chronic and permanent illness and bad health.
Here's the dirt on which chemicals you need to banish from your home, in the interests of clean, green living:
Perfluoroalkyl Acids
Found on non-stick pots, pans and cooking skillets, Perfluoroalkyl Acids release serum lipids when you use them, which can lead to high cholesterol levels, even if you are doing your utmost to cook without added oils and saturated fats, building up in your arteries.
Bisphenol (BPA)

A really common plastic softener, Bisphenol is all around us. It is used in plastic containers like water and babies' drinking bottles, cans and plastic containers. It can cause imbalances with your own hormones, and high levels of exposure have been associated with various forms of cancer, diabetes and obesity.
Triclosan
Triclosan is an antibacterial chemical that can be found in a range of personal products like toothpaste, facial washes, cleaners, soaps and deodorants. Because it is such a strong antibacterial agent, it also kills good bacteria, which can weaken your immunity and make you more susceptible to sickness. It is especially bad news when it mixes with the chlorine in water, which is what happens with soaps, facial cleansers and toothpastes.
Triclosan can also disrupt your endocrine system and has been linked to incidences of diabetes, cancer and obesity as well as birth defects in unborn babies.
According to Wikipedia,"The endocrine system is made of a series of glands that produce chemicals called hormones." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endocrine_system)
Phthalates
Phthalates are used to make plastics more flexible and are most commonly found in makeup, cosmetics, perfumes and solvents. They have been linked to breast cancer, obesity and sexual dysfunction.
Polybrominated Flame Retardants
Polybrominated flame retardants are used to stop furniture and mattresses from catching alight, and can also be found in various kinds of household plastic. It has been linked to birth defects and is under study for its impact on the environment.
Buying natural products that do not contain known toxins and chemicals is the first step to ensuring a happier, healthier family.
"Why are manufacturers allowed to be so careless with the chemicals that they add to your everyday cleaning, personal and general household products? One theory is that since these products are not consumed, there is a small chance that they will be able to enter your body and cause damage. The problem with this theory is that everything you come into contact with is absorbed by your skin, which means that all of the chemicals you use on a regular basis are accumulating within your body. If you want to rid your household of these harmful chemicals, you need to turn to products that are as natural as possible. For more information visit http://saferforyourlife.info/blog/

Topic Sensitivity in the Health Classroom

Where do students learn the most about everyday matters in their life? Here is a hint, it is not the math classroom, the English classroom, or the history classroom. That's right its the health room. Students learn more about how to deal with every day real life situations in the health room then any other classroom and can implement what they learn right away in real life situations. That makes teachers who teach health one the more important teachers in the building because they are teaching students how to live life healthy and to the fullest. The health classroom needs to be a place where students feel free to open up and express their feelings on the various topics that are brought up, and in order to do that the teacher has to encourage openness and be sensitive to certain topics that are being taught.
Anytime where a student could get upset about something being taught the teacher must be sensitive on how the information that is being conveyed is done appropriately to ensure that the student does not become upset. A topic like death and dying for instance is a very touchy subject, especially if you are teaching it in a high school. Students may have recently lost a grandparent, parent, friend, or pet that was close to them and could be going through a whirlwind of emotions. To keep a topic sensitive it is a good idea to have a solid set of class rules that encourages openness, respect, and confidentiality within the classroom.
Some topics are less sensitive and you can try and have some fun with them and possibly even encourage humor while teaching it. For example sex education will always have humor because no matter how old some people get they will still giggle when it comes to sexual topics. As long as the humor is done tastefully and respectfully, as to not offend anyone's sexual preferences or culture. Humor encourages participation, so when the topic is not too sensitive like, first-aid or family life humor should be used. However, in topics like obesity and dying humor should probably be kept to a minimum in order not to upset anyone. To encourage participation in these topics telling a personal story is a good way to set the mood of serious but open environment. When students see that you are willing to share a personal story it makes them more comfortable and are more likely to follow your example if you can be serious and share your story that may be something similar to what a student in your class has experienced.
Overall you must look at your topic and your students and decided whether or not the topic is appropriate to have some fun with or if it needs to be kept serious. After you make that decision it is up to you to find ways to encourage participation and openness from your students to make your lesson run smoothly and have them get the most information and knowledge out of it as they can.

Metobolic Syndrome and the Inability to Lose Weight

Metabolic Syndrome is defined by its four hallmark symptoms of central obesity, hypertension, dyslipidemia or high cholesterol, and hyperglycemia or high blood sugar. All four of these symptoms have something in common, the patient cells no longer respond to normal amounts of insulin.
The medical model for treating Metabolic Syndrome is to treat each symptom as separate, unrelated disease. Patients are given drugs, usually six to nine of them, to treat each symptom without trying to fix the underline cause.
An increase in insulin or hyper-insulinemia is the cause and has many detrimental effects on the body.
-First in response to hyper-insulinemia the pancreas secretes an exaggerated amount of insulin in response to rise in blood glucose, which can lead to insulin resistance. Most practitioners do not focus on this. They see a rise in blood glucose and prescribe drugs to lower it, which only furthers the problem of hyper-insulimia by signaling the pancreas to produce more insulin.
-Secondly, the patient now has hypertension due to the increase in insulin and is put on an ACE inhibitor to lower blood pressure. This signals the pancreas to secrete more insulin and as a result the patient gains more weight.
-Thirdly an excess of insulin causes an increase in the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase which tells the body to produce more Cholesterol and now the patient needs a stating drug to lower cholesterol.
Hyperinsulinemia eventually may lead Diabetic symptoms. Many experts agree that by 2050 1 in every 3 Americans will have diabetes, this includes children. They also agree this will potentially bankrupt our health care budget.
Diabetes is the number one cause of blindness, amputations and kidney failure in this country. The current healthcare system spends 174,000,000 dollars per year on patients with diabetes and this 174 billion does not include one dollar spent on prevention.
`It has been long known that diet and exercise can reduce the onset of Metabolic Syndrome and Diabetes. Prevention of Metabolic Syndrome and Diabetes is a life style change and here are tips to help:
Tip 1: Get up and move, Exercise can help you:
-Lose weight
-Lower your blood sugar
-Boosts your sensitivity to insulin - which helps keep your blood sugar within a normal range
Research shows that both aerobic exercise and resistance training can help control diabetes, but the greatest benefit comes from a fitness program that includes both.
Tip 2: Increase your fiber intake
Increase in fiber may help you:
Reduce your risk of diabetes by improving your blood sugar control
Lower your risk of heart disease
Promote weight loss by helping you feel full
Foods high in fiber include fruits, vegetables, beans, whole grains, nuts and seeds.
Tip 3: Lose extra weight
If you're overweight, diabetes prevention may hinge on weight loss. Every pound you lose can improve your health. And you may be surprised by how much. In one study, overweight adults reduced their diabetes risk by 16 percent for every kilogram (2.2 pounds) of weight lost. Also, those who lost a modest amount of weight - at least 5 to 10 percent of initial body weight - and exercised regularly reduced the risk of developing diabetes by almost 60 percent over three years.
Tip 4: Do not waste time and money on fad diets.
Low-crab diets, the glycemic index diet or other fad diets may help you lose weight at first, but their effectiveness at preventing diabetes isn't known nor are their long-term effects. And by excluding or strictly limiting a particular food group, you may be giving up essential nutrients. Instead, think variety and portion control as part of an overall healthy-eating plan.
Tip 5- Receive Regular Chiropractic Care.
Spinal nerve interference has been acknowledged in scientific literature to be a contributing factor of endocrine and metabolic disorders including diabetes. Studies have shown that Chiropractic care reduces blood pressure and reduces the overall impact that lifestyle stressors have on the body. Chiropractic health care is founded on the principle that a good working nervous system is vital to the general well-being and function of the human body.

Top Free iPod/iPhone Games

Fun games can be hard to find on the App Store because there are so many that are simply not worth the time it takes to download them. But for the sake of game lovers everywhere I will share with you a few of my favorite games on my iPod so that you can enjoy them as I do.
Fall Down - Fall Down is a fun game where there is a several lines and a ball. You tilt your device back and forth to move the ball through the lines quickly so you don't get squished by the top. It's challenging. It's one of those games where it's easy to learn how to play, but very hard to master.
Angry Birds Lite - OK, you have probably heard of this one if you haven't already played it! It is largely popular. In Angry Birds Lite you aim birds in slingshots to kill pigs, the pigs are surrounded by wood, ice, and rock. You have to break the wood, ice, and rock to get to the pigs, wood is easy to break, ice might take a few hits to break down, and you can't break rock. This game is really quite fun! It comes with 12 levels.
Fruit Ninja Lite - In Fruit Ninja Lite, you slash fruit in half with your finger, 1 point for every slashed fruit. You can get bonus points by slashing multiple fruit at one time. If you let 3 unslashed fruit fall off the screen, game over. If you hit a bomb, game over. You can unlock 3 different blades and 3 different backgrounds. I like this game but you can only get up to 125 points! You can buy the full version to be able to get more points, though.
Wedding Dash Lite - In Wedding Dash, you play as Quinn, a wedding planner. You are in charge of picking out the wedding cake, the food, and the honeymoon spot based on the couple's preferences. Then you seat the guests and serve them their food. They will have seating preferences. It may be hard to get everyone seated where they want to be and serve them their food before their patience runs out. This game is like Diner Dash or Hotel Dash or any of the other "Dashes" but this one is my favorite! You have to think fast for this game. It's very challenging.
Temple Run - A game must have! In Temple Run you play a character running away from several evil monkeys, you are running along a path but there are many turns, gaps, and obstacles that you have to get past. Your goal is to get as many coins, and go as far as you can before you make a mistake and the evil monkeys get you. This game is highly addicting and it gets challenging.
Draw Something - Draw Something is a pictionary type game. They give you a choice of three different words of different difficulties. The harder ones are worth more points, of course. After you have chosen your word, you draw it on your device. Then your opponent guesses what it is and then vice versa. If you like pictionary, then this app is a must have for you.
These are all great, but if you didn't find one that suits your fancy you can view my page and find more games.

The Best Outdoor Games For Children

If you're like most parents, you probably remember that much of your youth was spent outside. While there are exceptions, most parents today grew up playing outside at parks, in their backyards, or elsewhere. Today's kids are too often glued to the television, but you can help them get some fresh air, exercise, and even learn a few things by helping show them cool games to play outside. There are a variety of different fun outdoor games for kids, whether you've only got a single child or an entire classroom full of them. And they're normally inexpensive or outright free to play, which is a major consideration in today's world.
Schools often rely on cool games for kids to play outside. Something as simple as educational field trips can help them stay active and learn, but games on the playground can be great choices too. Kids outdoor relay games offer a way for kids to get active, challenge themselves, and learn to work together. They'll teach teamwork, good sportsmanship, and much more. They're essentially little more than stick games, too, since they let kids use little more than a stick as a baton. This is a far cry from online stick games, which are simply stick figure flash games.
At home, learning a few dog games for kids is a great way to get the family pet involved. Fetch and Frisbee are common, but you may be able to convince your kid - and your dog - to run a race with one another. There are plenty of other options as well, so don't overlook your pets when you try to figure out cool games to play outside. Fun outdoor games for kids can range from complicated to simple, so be sure that you take the time to figure out some that your whole family will be able to take part in.
You can also play hunting games with your kids as well. Hid and go seek is a good example, but hiding a variety of items for them to find is also a fun way to help them problem solve and enjoy the outdoors. And of course, camp games for kids are among the best on which to base your own outdoor pursuits. Review some of the more popular games played at camp and apply them at home or in your classroom. You'll have no shortage of great ideas when you use cool games from camps as your model.
Educational field trips are a great way to fascilitate outside play. There are plenty of fun games that can be played while on these trips. This brings learning and fun together in a fun-filled environment.

Are You A Sports Gamer?

Do you play sports video games? For a lot of us sports fans the answer is yes, and we don't even have to hide the fact that we do. We all have our own little man cave area where we play, or should I say waste, untold hours with that game pad in our hands. Whether it be PS3, XBOX,Wii, or Nintendo we all have our favorite games, some of which we have played since childhood. Some would say we never left stage to begin with.
According to Wiki Answers, 65% of all males say they have played at least 1 video game in the last 3 years. I don't know how scientific that survey is but it sounds about right.
My top 5 favorite sports video games franchises of all time are:
1) Madden NFL Football. Wow what a shock, right? It's not that I have liked each release but as a whole Madden pretty much set the standard for sports gaming. I am not a guy who can just stick a game in the machine and play it. I have to fiddle with sliders and gameplay to make it as close to the real thing as I can. No cheese!! Anyway, Madden comes as close tot he real thing as possible.
2) EA's NCCA Football. Ok, it's really Maddens little bother because they are made by the same company and all the controls are about the same but that's where it ends because the NCAA series captures College Football right down to the mascots and fight songs. I love being able to run the option in a game and you can even recruit players and build your own dynasty! I have played this game and piled up 15 and 20 seasons as a coach. Love it!
3) MLB The Show. Must have some baseball in my video diet and while I think it's the most difficult sport to have accuracy in from a video game there is still nothing like crushing a ball 450 feet off the bat of Josh Hamilton or another slugger. Of course, baseball is a purist sport and the stats are what the game is all about. Baseball video games have a hard time with reality especially with things likes walks, errors and other numbers.
4) The Baseball Mogul. You may not have heard of this one but it's so addictive to play. Baseball Mogul is a complete statistically based game where you are basically the GM of a baseball team (the real teams) and you are in charge of everything from a financial standpoint like player and TV contracts all the way down to the price of a hot dog. It's very deep micro managing and you have to kind of be a numbers nut to appreciate it and you must have an understanding of how to run a baseball team. If you have a star player on the rise do you sign him long term or trade him at just the right time? Pretty cool stuff!
5) Tecmo Bowl. This game came out in 1988 and is still being played! I must have spent weeks in hibernation playing this quirky little football game on my Nintendo with the corny music. In some respects it was better than madden because the game itself was pretty smart and you had to to be really good to have any fun with it. But the downside is this game only had 3 or 4 plays per team and not all the NFL teams were in the game. Still, my fingers are still sore from playing it.
There are some other that deserve mention. The NBA2K series, Fight Night, and Front Page Sports Football Pro to name a few. What are your all time greats?

Classic Kids Games - Some Of The Best Classic Games Ever

Today, video and computer games are big business. Billions of dollars are made by video game companies each year, and more kids than ever are playing them. Board games are also still highly popular, but either of these options can be surprisingly expensive - a good board game can cost up to forty dollars or more. For many people, getting back to basics can bring a family together, teach your kids skills and lessons, and cost very little. Numerous classic games based on pencils and paper are available, and these retro games can be surprisingly fun for anyone who wants to play them.
For the most retro of all retro games, you'll need to dig way back into your own childhood and maybe even beyond. Classic games like tic tac toe or hangman are very easy to setup, fast to play, and don't really cost a dime. Hangman can actually teach your kids vocabulary and spelling skills, and while they don't have the pizzazz of most modern board games they're still fun for a couple of hours, especially with younger kids. Other classic games like Salvo or Word Squares are easy to understand and to play as well, and can be a lot of fun for very little money.
But when you put the words 'classic games' together with 'pencil and paper', most people will think of pencil and paper RPGs like the legendary Dungeons and Dragons series. There are a huge number of retro games based on this model, ranging from superhero modules to futuristic ones. Finding a good RPG is an excellent way to boost creativity, teamwork, imagination, and even math skills. Whether you start with the basic D&D set or look for something else, these are good options for older kids who get bored with Hangman. A couple of books, paper, pencils, and the special dice are all you'll need to get started.
There are also some retro games that you can play with pencil and paper that involve printing out a board on your computer. Games like Ghoulash involve a printed board but little else and can be an interesting kind of 'homemade board game' well worth considering. In short, you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars on video games or board games to have fun with your family. A bit of creativity and a back-to-basics approach with some classic games are really all that you need to have great family fun.

How to Attend Model Casting Calls

The modeling industry is without a doubt glamorous and exciting which is why it attracts many ladies and gentlemen. This is an industry which has several niches with the most common ones being catwalk and appearing on ads. This is an industry that demands a lot of effort and hard work nonetheless because it is highly competitive. Many people fail to break even in the industry or even succeed because they mostly fail during the casting calls. These are similar to auditions and are quite significant in any model's career so it vital to know what you need to do in such situations. Moreover, there are things that you need to avoid on the other hand so that you may be able to impress the casting agents hence get booked for gigs.
The first thing that you need to do is to ensure that you are properly groomed as required. There are many models that usually show up for casting when they look like run-away slaves which is why grooming is vital. Go for a hair cut so that you do not show any signs of being unkempt and enhance your looks as well. Remember that the modeling industry is relatively competitive and this means that you will be facing it from other good looking aspirants. You must therefore match up. Film Producers Strive Hard For Movie Casting Calls - Casting Directors Make it Easy!

Film producers would have had a tough time if they did not casting directors to their rescue. A casting director is the one who after reading the script and consulting with the director, is required to come up with the actors-including the movie casting calls to those 60 odd extras. The script can be of any nature - commercial, training video or movie but irrespective of this the casting directors have to look for the best fit actor or in some cases even go hunting for fresh talent.
The casting unit along with their director schedules and runs the audition for the actors. To make their lives a bit easier, as the casting communities across regions, know how to connect up with each other and share and use the most valuable information like casting lists and other useful reports. Also in order to carry out their job casting directors and other casting resources like casting agents need to have an eye for easily telling whether or not an actor is right for a particular part. This is one major factor which helps one agent have an edge over the other. They need to know everything during the auditions from who can act and speak with the proper accent to who can sing or dance. The alertness required is something that needs to be honed as a skill for the most efficient casting process.
Apart from this a casting director should have a good memory so that they can refer to their database and know where all to make the movie casting calls. If the calls are right the entire audition process turns out to be very profitable as the right matches are called. Also the casting crew should know how to make the actors relax so that fresh talent can exhibit their best skills and get noticed by the right kind of production companies. The casting crew is like the human resources department of each film production company as they are the ones who find the right kind of people to work in any film. Also the casting directors make use of head hunting firms having sharp and talented casting agents to get the rarest talent in the industry.
All this makes the job of a casting director and others involved in the casting process is immensely important and influential. Even though they do not get Oscars for making the most perfect movie casting calls their efforts and craft make the one of the most contribution to film arts and entertainment. The film producers and directors may hog all the limelight of a blockbuster movie but without the best casting crew their film could have never become as popular. So lets admit that the job of a casting director might not be the most glamorous but even then we have many people in this line struggling to be a part of the casting process as they realize how important and influential it is.

Strategic Email Marketing: The Beginning and The End

Needless to say, the companies that are able to achieve the latter are the ones that reap the benefits of email marketing in the right sense of the word. For this, the different ingredients that go into the making of a successful campaign need to be taken care of. The first among these points is the cohesion between the subject line and the headline of the email message.
Essentially, the subject line is supposed to be a prequel to the actual message. Often it so happens that marketers do give the subject line the kind of importance it deserves, thanks to increased awareness about its role in the success of strategic email marketing initiatives, but fail to see how its relation with the headline. The result is two perfect lines that are part of the same message, but do not have anything else in common! This leads to wastage of resources on a mistake that could have been rectified in the first place quite simply.
Including the right kind of call to action is also an aspect of strategic email marketing that is often ignored. This results in a perfect email message not getting the kind of results in terms of click-through cases, which it could have achieved. What generally happens that the focus on getting the right mix of a compelling headline, an impactful visual and striking body copy completely overshadows the need for an attractive call to action that seals the deal. Research has shown that the call to action is as important as the subject line or the headline, while many industry experts are of the opinion that its importance is even higher from the point of view of the recipient, than what is perceived by marketers.
Taking an example, if an organization is operating in the retail space, and follows the example of an organization that offers financial consultancy, the ramifications would not be pleasant at all, in every sense of the word. For instance, coming to the most imperative ingredient of every successful strategic email marketing initiative - free giveaways, the for the current and prospective clients of the financial consultancy organization, an insight into the current market scenario would be a very vital keepsake. However, for the retail organization, the giveaways need to be in a more tangible form, like discount coupons, since that appeals more to their customers, and would ensure that revenues continue to increase.
CruzeConnect is a full-scale email marketing and email strategy service, created to deliver the most effective email campaigns in conjunction with fulfilling the business goals of our clients.

Strategic Email Marketing: Why Outsourcing Is Necessary

Everybody is talking about it; some are appropriately trying to simplify it, while many others are hyping it up to complicate matters unnecessarily. Essentially, email marketing is just an advanced platform for generating sales via innovative marketing efforts. However, innovative does not mean something extraordinary; rather, it just talks about looking at things from a different perspective. At the core level, it's about how the principles of sales and marketing are applied in conjunction with advanced technology to ensure the desired objective is met.
For this purpose, strategic email marketing tactics need to be known from A to Z. However, there is virtually no organization in the world that does not have a dedicated and experienced email marketing team at its disposal, and can still continue to thrive in the highly competitive business world. In short, an email services provider is always needed, so that all the campaigns can be managed properly. There are many agencies that offer such services, and operate on behalf of clients to ensure that their business objectives are met.
The reason why strategic email marketing principles call out for external help in email campaigns is because not only would it take a substantially high amount of capital to setup a dedicated email marketing department, even sustaining the same requires quite a lot of money. Also, this is investment that does not have a guarantee of providing the kind of returns that are expected. However, when one talks about email service providers, the credibility of the same can be checked by going through the client list and the kind of work that has been done. Hence, there is minimal risk, and a virtual guarantee that the business would make headways in its respective domain to surge ahead of competition.
These are just some of the strategic email marketing tips that can work spectacularly well for organisations, irrespective of the domain they are operating in. And the best part is, there's no need to invest extra money for implementing the same!
Owing to the advanced filtering techniques, desktop as well as web-based email clients choose to categorise emails sent from a particular email address as blacklisted if the sender does not open them, or if they repeatedly fall in the spam folder. Hence, it's necessary to ensure that the customer has a choice to always get the email message in his/her inbox, if it suits his/her requirement. This is also essentially a fair trade practice, and also builds brand equity, which can easily be lost if the emails suddenly 'stop' coming. This is just one of the strategic email marketing tactics.

Graphic Designer, Web Developer Or Web Designer?

The Web Design industry is extremely competitive and I often come across individuals from a multitude of backgrounds who are making an living out of the industry as Freelancers. For those that are looking to get their project started, finding an individual that promises good results at a good price is what really matters. Or does it?
When choosing a Freelancer, you should look closely at their skill set and match this to your web project. In order to do this, you need to understand the differences between the types of Freelancers and the results that their skill sets produce.
In an ideal world, the fee's for using an agency wouldn't be quite as daunting an expensive as they are and all projects would use all the skill sets mentioned during a web build. Let us take a look at the different skills and what you can expect to get in return.
The Graphic Designer
Graphic designers produce and communicate their clients' messages with high visual impact. Graphic design solutions are required for a huge variety of products and activities, such as websites, advertising, books, magazines, posters, computer games, product packaging, exhibitions and displays, corporate communications and corporate identity.

The Result
As you would expect you will end up with a visually stunning website for all to admire. However, As your website is Graphically intensive the pages may take a long time to load. The code used by the Graphic Designer will probably not be valid and could result in your website being misread by the Search Engines and the Website Architecture most probably won't allow for future development and growth of the website. A Graphic Designer is suited to projects of a presentational or marketing nature, where a product or service is required to look appealing in order to sell it to viewers.

The Web Developer
A web developer is a person or team of people who are specifically engaged in the development of World Wide Web applications, or distributed network applications that are run over HTTP from a web server to a web browser.

The Result
A perfectly functional website allowing for ease of update by you and coded with an emphasis on speed and validation. However, the graphical elements of the website will often leave a lot to be desired and the web page layout will often be dictated by rules rather than by user enjoyment and engagement. A Web Developer is suited to projects where you would like to extend the current functionally of the website For instance, maybe you want to make the website available on your customers mobile phones.

The Web Designer
Web design is a mixture of Graphic Design and Web Development. The styling and development of objects occurring within the Internets information environment. The aim is to provide high-end consumer features and aesthetic qualities.

The Result
A good Web Designer considers all things from the users perspective. They are not experts at Web Development but have the ability to produce websites with valid system Architecture. They will also not produce stunning high resolution graphics as they understand the trade-off between the quality of image needed and the optimisation needed to deliver content to your customers rapidly. In essence a web designer is an all-rounder and often the best choice for most web design projects.

With all things consider it is the type of project that you require completed and the customer base you attract that should dictate your choice of Freelancer in the end.

Transitioning to Web Graphic Design

Web graphic design seems to be more and more in demand in today's job market. Companies are taking to the internet more and more just to keep up with the competitive markets worldwide. Due to this fact, it is inevitable that companies will need a web site to touch audiences outside their geographic location. Companies have realized that in order to have a web site they must have the knowledge or an individual who can build a web site for the company and maintain it as well. A problem companies are facing with web graphic design is the ability to hire individuals that possess artistic talent as well as a skill to convert that artistic talent into digital graphics.
Companies are facing a reoccurring problem. Their web graphic designer is not really a web graphic designer but a print designer or works with already pre made digital graphics. Meaning the individual lacks the skill set to use programs to transition their graphic art work to a digital format. The print designer is skilled at creating graphic layouts on a physical surface such as poster board. Companies are not realizing this problem until they have already hired and spent money on benefits for an individual that claims they are web graphic designer.
The company's solution to the problem of helping a web graphic designer make the transition from print design to web graphic design may cost more to the company than what the employee is worth. This problem of a lack of knowledge on web graphic programs and making a transition of physical graphics to virtual graphics is raising questions to both the employer and the employee. How can this problem be solved? First before the problem can be solved, knowledge of web graphic design needs to be acquired. This can be done through either schooling or through a resource that can provide directions and tools to get the employee caught up to speed on the skill sets needed to complete the goals of the company.
So what if the company you work for doesn't have the money to help you acquire the knowledge and skill sets for your job? What if you don't have the money at the moment for school? A solution to these questions is simple. Teach yourself by utilizing resources and downloading a graphics program from a friend or off the internet. There are many different programs and examples out on the internet that will allow an individual to design a web site and get ideas of how to design a web site with graphics. It really comes down to just knowing where to look and taking initiative to learn or teach yourself a graphics program along with a web site building program.

Web Graphic Design Is A Fulfilling Career

People all over the world have experience using web sites for a variety of things. This includes learning more information about different topics or for business use. An expert creates each website that is available on the internet. It takes a lot of technique and skill for a person to gain success in web graphic design. When browsing the internet, a user visits a web page that catches their attention within a few seconds. Competition for internet traffic is very high.
In order to pursue this career, an individual will need to further their education. Many community and technical colleges offer classes that cater to future web designers. In world of design, a person will be able to exercise their creativity on a regular basis. They will also have to have an extensive knowledge of software programs within the industry. Each program applied offers a variety of features. It all depends on what a designer prefers to use. There are many specialties within this large field of internet design; a person needs to perform research to see what interests them.
Editing tools used on a regular basis include cropping, filters and colors. A cropping tool cuts out the edges of a picture. The goal is to cut out unnecessary objects out of the image. There are many variations of cropping tools used by experts. Small cropping devices can help a designer maintain accuracy when cutting out certain items. Filters create special visual effects on an image. A large variety of them are available for a person to use. Some examples include brush strokes, textures and sharpening. Filters have abilities to change the look of a certain piece of work. Much like the cropping tool, filters alter the whole image or just a partial portion. Colors are quite easily changed in a picture. All of these items need to flow to create the perfect website that will catch the interest of users all over the world.
These are only a few examples of items that a web designer will need to know how to run. By learning these items, person experiences even more freedom to promote their certain flair or style in an artistic way. It is a very rewarding feeling to work in a career that a person is very passionate about. They are able to enjoy the process of creating a design or website for their clients. A rewarding occupation creates a happy lifestyle.

Is Your Real Estate Website an Up-To-Date Lead Generating Marketing Tool?

Every real estate agent knows a website is critical to a lead-generation strategy. Learn how to determine if your real estate website is doing more harm than good with our handy checklist.
Web sites aren't like cartons of milk with a clear-cut expiration date stamped prominently on them. But that doesn't mean that your web site will never spoil. With new trends and technologies constantly being introduced, the web is the most fluid media format in the history of mankind. Studies, technological innovations and constant testing are shaping (daily) how "best practices" for web marketing are evolving. That's why it's essential that you periodically ensure that you're not falling behind the curve. An outdated web site can do more harm than it does good, making you look out of touch. The trouble is that it's not always easy to know when your site crosses that line and becomes a liability rather than a benefit to your business.
With that in mind, we've assembled a list of 10 key indicators when analyzing your personal web site to determine whether or not you might be due for an update. Let's get started.
1. Size Does Matter
Today's best websites look different from the moment your browser lands on them. Naturally, the web grows along with technology. A few years ago, it was customary to find people browsing on a 13- or 15-inch monitor. As a result, the width of most web sites was designed to match these screens. These days, 19- to 24-inch screens have gained widespread popularity, making the narrow-width sites designed for smaller monitors look outdated in comparison. This prevents the breathing room that allows today's most impressive-looking websites to create a stunning visual impression on their visitors.
From a purely technical standpoint, if your site is not a minimum of 800 pixels wide, it's time to consider a redesign.
2. Get Social
Integration of social media into his or her personal website is a sure sign that an agent is on the cutting edge of technology. Does your site include links to all of your social media accounts, such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn? Some agents may be afraid of this new technology, but it can't be dismissed as a trendy marketing gimmick. Not only are social media platforms a great way to establish relationships with potential clients before they need your services, but integration of your social media accounts can be highly beneficial to your search engine optimization. The more you can integrate social media into your site, the more it will provide the valuable "new content" that leads to high rankings in search engines.
With its relationship-building capabilities and search engine benefits, it's important that you integrate your social networking sites into your own personal website.
3. Branding Matters
Branding is all about creating an emotional response in your target. Far too often, however, agents fail to convey their personal brand on their web site. Branding is more than just a catchy slogan. It's a gut feeling created in the consumer that either attracts them to you or repels them from you. You want visitors to your web site to come away with something memorable and a feeling that they know you and would feel comfortable working with you. And oh yeah - you only have a few seconds to capture their attention while they're quickly making decisions about whether or not they'd ever call you.
As home buyers and sellers use the web more and more as a screening device in selecting an agent, the more important it becomes that your web site conveys your unique personal brand. For better or worse, people are going to make the decision whether or not to call you based on their perception of you that they get from your web site. So it's time to take a long, hard look at your site and ask yourself the following questions: How will visitors to your site come away thinking about you? What will be their first impression? What emotional response will they have to your site? Does your web site differentiate you from other agents? Does it convey a sense of high quality? Does it give insight into who you are, or does it read like generic information that could apply to any real estate agent?
If your site isn't doing a good job answering these questions satisfactorily, it's time to consider making a change to your web site.
4. Continuity is Key
Continuity of message and your look is an important element in building a personal brand. Here's an exercise to help determine if you've achieved continuity in your marketing. Just play along and imagine this scenario for a second: Let's say a homeowner logs on to your personal web site, but for the purposes of this experiment, your name is concealed from their view. Would they recognize you simply from the aesthetic design of your site? If not, that's a big problem. It's very important that all of your marketing efforts provide a consistent look and feel, regardless of the medium. That means that anything and everything you do - direct mail, fliers, handouts AND your web site - should have a consistent, instantly recognizable look.
In the simplest terms, the point of marketing is to create a perception in people's minds that makes you memorable to them. So if that's your goal, it only makes sense to help make yourself memorable by having a consistent look across everything you do. This seems like an obvious point, but we're continually amazed at how many agents tend to underestimate the importance of continuity across all of their personal marketing efforts. Too many agents opt for the "cheapie" one-size-fits-all, template site. In doing so, they might save a few pennies up front, but they are costing themselves thousands of dollars in potential lost opportunity. If your site doesn't match the look of your other marketing activities, it's time to make a change.
5. Converting Visitors into Leads
It's a fairly impressive accomplishment just to get a prospective client to visit your web site. But just visiting your site isn't the reason you have a web site. It's all about converting those visitors into leads, and far too many of the sites we see don't give the visitor ample opportunities to do so.
The best real estate web sites include what the industry calls "stickiness." Stickiness is all about giving the visitor a reason to come back to your site or to bookmark it for repeated visits in the future. To achieve stickiness, you need to be providing valuable content to the reader. The key to doing this is to step outside your view and put yourself in the prospective home buyer or seller's shoes. You need to think like your customers. You need to provide market-specific information. You need to ask yourself what questions people are asking you, and then offer that information on your web site.
It's also essential that you have a system and technology in place to compel visitors to sign up and give you their information. From special report offers to periodic market update requests and more, effective lead-capture tactics are essential to making your web site a strong business generator. If you don't have them, you're falling behind the pace.
Even once you have a way of capturing people's information, the game is not over. At that point, it becomes essential that you have a foolproof follow-up system to keep in touch these prospective clients. The key is to maintain a consistent, but not overbearing presence in their lives. After initial contact and lead qualification, a maintenance follow-up of one to two emails a month is a good plan.
6. Keep It Simple
Far too many agent sites seem to be based on the belief that "more is always better." You've seen 'em - the sites that are a dizzying array of useless links and widgets that make your eyes glaze over as soon as the home page loads. On the other hand, the best sites are those with simple, clean navigation that deliver content people actually want and provides value.
If your site is packed full of miscellaneous links and flashing buttons, it's time to tone it down and create an easy-to-navigate site that puts the emphasis where it belongs - on conveying your personal brand and delivering valuable, relevant content to your visitors.
Does My Site Need a Blog?
We'd be remiss if we wrote an article about marketing on the web and didn't mention blogging. Over the last couple years, there are few topics we have been asked about as much as blogging. So here's the scoop: Blogging is great, but it also contains a huge pitfall. The upside of blogging is that it allows you to periodically provide valuable information to people in an unobtrusive way. Through regular blogging, people will grow to like you and feel comfortable with you. Consistent blog updates will also increase your search engine rankings.
We can hear you now. "That sounds great! So what's the drawback?"
The drawback of blogging is that it's very easy to get excited about blogging when you first become a blogger. The first couple weeks, it's an inspiring part of your daily activities. But inevitably, the appeal of writing a new blog entry is going to wane. And the lower your enthusiasm for blogging becomes, the less likely you are to regularly update your blog.
This becomes a problem when visitors to your site click on your blog. If you haven't updated it recently, the immediate impression is that you are not on top of things. You're perceived as being out of touch, or too busy, or worse yet, possibly out of the business.
So the key to blogging effectively is much like the key to keeping your entire marketing campaign on track - systematization. If you are committed to regularly updating your blog, and you have the content to do so, then go ahead and start a blog. But be forewarned - your commitment to updating your blog must be as strong as any commitment in your business, or you run the risk of having your blog ultimately do more harm than good.]
7. Search Engine Optimization
Getting those coveted high rankings in the search engines isn't something that happens by chance. Search engine optimization is a blend of science and art. It's about understanding how things work on the Internet as well as understanding what people are looking for and their search tendencies.
The best real estate web sites are those that include search engine optimized copywriting, are updated with new content frequently and regularly, and contain the tools and information that home buyers and sellers are looking for.
To that end, it's critical that your site properly integrates the most-searched-for keywords in order to generate more traffic to your site. Search engines aren't just about keywords, however. It's also important to post new content to your site on a regular basis, because the search engines will downgrade your ranking if your site is perceived as being inactive or static for long periods of time. Links to your site from other sites are also highly beneficial your ranking in the search engines.
Long story short, search engine optimization can play a vital role in your web site's success. To fully maximize your web presence, you have three basic choices - study all you can and become a search engine optimization expert and improve your rankings through a systematic organic SEO plan, or hire someone an expert to handle your SEO for you. Or you can consider pay per click search engine marketing- paying to have your site appear at the top of a search engine's rankings for specific chosen keywords.
8. Keep It in Working Order
Many older and template-based sites we see often display broken links, missing files and disheveled elements that immediately cast doubt on the agent's professionalism. In this day and age, it's not enough to simply "have" a web site anymore. You need to continually hone your site and monitor it to ensure everything is in working order and providing the most value possible to your visitors.
If your site has fallen into a state of disrepair, it's time to consider a new alternative or risk being dismissed by prospective clients due to your less-than-ideal web presence
9. Copy Counts
There's no doubt the web is primarily a visual medium. But that doesn't mean that the copywriting doesn't matter. There are different camps on this, some feel copywriting is not as relevant in today's short attention span world or in Web 2.0 websites. A quick survey of most agent sites tells us most agents underestimate the importance of well-written copy throughout their site. This is not a job for you, the agent. It's something that should be handled by professionals, or else you run a serious risk of looking unprofessional to the home buyers and sellers visiting your site. A poorly written sentence here; a typo or spelling error there, and suddenly you start to de-sell yourself.
The moral of the story: Don't try to do things that aren't within your expertise. You sell houses. Professional copywriters write web site marketing copy. To maximize the effectiveness of your site, keep it that way.
10. When Was Your Last Site Review?
Web sites can be thought of like clothes. When you first buy it, it's in style, up-to-date with the trends and makes you look good. But styles change quickly, and just like that shirt you bought a couple years ago, a web site can age quickly. If you have a plug and play web site or set up a custom site more than two or three (scary!) years ago, it's time to give your site a thorough review. Updating your photos is the bare minimum, and you'll likely find that many of the elements we discussed in this article are lacking from your site.
Your web site can be a huge boost to your business and an excellent lead generator. On the other hand, it can send a signal that you're a fairly inactive agent who doesn't keep up with the latest trends - and by extension, is probably out of touch with current market conditions and home values. In other words, not a wise choice to handle one of the largest investments most people make.
The beauty is the way you're perceived is entirely up to you and you can upgrade your site with a website refresh. You can leave it alone and hope for the best, or you can actively "work" your site to make it as strong as can be.
